EDAMA Launches the Third Session of “She Leads” to Empower Women in the Energy Sector

On Thursday, August 21, 2025, EDAMA – The Energy, Water, and Environment Association – launched the third session of the “She Leads: From Challenges to Change” series at the German Energy Academy, King Hussein Business Park. The workshop took place within the Jordanian-German Energy Partnership, jointly coordinated by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) and Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR). On behalf of the BMWE, the German Energy Agency (dena) implements the partnership in close cooperation with MEMR. The event series “She Leads” was developed and carried out by dena together with EDAMA.

The session welcomed participants including energy sector experts, policy specialists, and HR professionals from the Directorates of Women’s Labor, Social Work, and Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Labor, highlighting the importance of supporting women’s participation in decision-making and empowering them across all levels of the sector.

The discussions built on outcomes from the previous two workshops, focusing on the key challenges faced by women working in the energy sector and developing practical, policy-aligned tools to address them.

The sessions covered seven main themes, representing seven key challenges faced by women in the sector: limited access to leadership positions, gender-based discrimination, exclusion from decision-making processes, non-inclusive work environments, weak grievance and follow-up mechanisms, gaps in recruitment and promotion policies, and underrepresentation of women in senior technical roles alongside persistent stereotypes about women’s roles in energy.

Participants emphasized that the workshop provided a practical platform for transforming challenges into actionable solutions through group work, experience sharing, and expert guidance, ultimately fostering more inclusive and empowering workplaces for women in Jordan’s energy sector.
