On the 23rd of June 2021 EDAMA Association for Energy, Water and Environment had officially launched SIRCLES Project: Supporting Circular Economy Opportunities for Employment and Social Inclusion” Funded from EU through the ENI CBC MED Programme.

The kick-off meeting was held in Aqaba Governorate in cooperation with Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) with a very interesting presence of 31 concerned entities with more than 60 attendees, representing Aqaba’s public organizations, national and international private organizations, Aqaba’s hotels, community-based organization, and waste management companies. The ENI CBC MED SIRCLES project is an EU funded project with a total budget of 3.8 Million Euros and a duration of 30 months. SIRCLES aims to increase green employment opportunities by providing skills to NEET (youth not in employment, education, or training sectors) and women based on circular economy business models applied to the hotel, food retail and household sectors by creating a pilots based on composting plant and organic farming site. The pilot will be constructed in Aqaba Governorate in a land provided by ASEZA with targeting training and Jobs creating for more than 40 Direct Jobs for women and Youth are based in Aqaba. The lead partner of the project is Waste Agency of Catalonia from Spain, and the 9 project partners are from Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Italy, Spain, Tunisia, and Greece. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Duraid Mahasneh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EDAMA Association, who welcomed the attendees and pointed out the importance of circular economy projects in light of the increasing quantities of consumed raw materials to preserve the value of products and resources with the highest benefit and value for the longest possible period. Dr. Mahasneh added that the main objective of this project is to implement circular economy activities with Promoting social inclusion and combating poverty by providing NEETs and women with marketable skills to provide job opportunities through the implementation of the environmental management project. He added that EDAMA Association will cooperate with the authority of the Aqaba Economic Commission to achieve the project’s goals and success, and in implementation in partnership with the German Jordanian University represented by Dr. Munjed Al-Sharif and Dr. Arwa Abdel Hay, adding that this meeting aims to hear the recommendations and ideas of the attendees to work on the success of the project and expand it over the whole country in the future. Then His Excellency Suleiman Al-Najadat the Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources / Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, welcomed the attendees and expressed the interest of the Aqaba Governorate in adopting environmental projects, and that SIRCLES project is a significant step to follow this path and then he also expressed his gratitude that the project will be implemented In Aqaba, in line with the need for the landfill to be developed and refurbished.

Mr. Mohamed Al Hammouri, the representative of the Eastern Mediterranean Branch Office of the ENI CBC MED Program, thanked EDAMA Association for their invitation to the kick-off meeting of SIRCLES Project, adding that the project was selected from among 23 strategic projects. Then Mr. Hammouri took the opportunity to introduce the program and indicating that it is among the 16 largest programs in the world In terms of the number participating countries and the budget, as it includes 13 countries from both shores of the Mediterranean with a budget of 209 Million euros, he added that the program aims to strengthen the relationship and solve issues in the participating countries, he finally confirmed that the office will provide the needed full support to achieve the project’s goals and success. The kickoff meeting was ended with a brainstorming session between EDAMA, ASEZA and all participants to discuss their recommendations, role within the project and the up-coming steps.

جمعية إدامة تطلق مشروع “دعم فرص الاقتصاد الدائري للتوظيف والإدماج الاجتماعي (SIRCLES)” في العقبة ، الأردن.

عقدت جمعية ادامة للطاقة والمياه والبيئة بالتعاون مع سلطة منطقة العقبة الاقتصادية الخاصة (ASEZA) في 23 حزيران ,2021 مشروع “دعم فرص الاقتصاد الدائري للتوظيف والإدماج الاجتماعي” في محافظة العقبة، الأردن.

عقد الاجتماع الافتتاحي بحضور ما يقارب 31 جهة معنية بأكثر من 60 مشاركًا ومشاركة، وكان الحاضرون ممثلين عن مؤسسات العقبة الرسمية من القطاعين العام والخاص ومؤسسات المجتمع المدني.

مشروع دعم الاقتصاد الدائري للتوظيف والادماج الاجتماعي الذي يندرج تحت برنامج   ENI CBC MED التعاون عبر الحدود في البحر الابيض المتوسط والممول من الاتحاد الاوربي بميزانية إجمالية قدرها 3.8 مليون يورو ولمدة 30 شهرًا. يهدف المشروع  إلى زيادة فرص العمل الخضراء من خلال توفير المهارات لـ NEET الشباب غير العاملين أو في قطاعات التعليم أو التدريب والنساء على أساس نماذج أعمال الاقتصاد الدائري المطبقة على قطاعات الفنادق وتجارة المواد الغذائية والأسر المعيشية من خلال إنشاء مشاريع تجريبية تعتمد على مصنع السماد وموقع الزراعة العضوية. سيتم إنشاء المشروع التجريبي في محافظة العقبة على أرض توفرها سلطة منطقة العقبة الاقتصادية الخاصة (ASEZA) مع التدريب المستهدف وخلق فرص عمل لأكثر من 40 وظيفة مباشرة للنساء والشباب في العقبة.الشريك الرئيسي للمشروع هو وكالة النفايات في كاتالونيا من إسبانيا ، والشركاء التسعة في المشروع هم من فلسطين والأردن ولبنان وإيطاليا وإسبانيا وتونس واليونان.

ترأس الاجتماع الدكتور دريد محاسنة رئيس مجلس إدارة جمعية ادامة، ورحب بالحضور وأشار إلى اهمية مشاريع الاقتصاد الدائري في ظل ازدياد كمية المواد الاولية المستهلكة للحفاظ على قيمة المنتجات والموارد لأطول فترة ممكنة واوضح ان الهدف الرئيسي من المشروع  هو تعزيز الادماج الاجتماعي ومكافحة الفقرمن خلال تزويد الشباب والنساء الاقل حظا في المجتمع  بمهارات قابلة للتسويق لتوفير فرص عمل عن طريق تنفيذ أنشطة الاقتصاد الدائري من خلال مشروع الادارة البيئية و اضاف ان جمعية ادامة ستقوم بالتعاون مع سلطة مفوضية العقبة الاقتصادية على تحقيق اهداف المشروع وانجاحه و تنفيذه بالشراكة مع الجامعة الالمانية الاردنية ممثلة بالدكتور منجد الشريف و الدكتورة اروى عبد الحي و اضاف الى ان هذا الاجتماع يهدف الى سماع توصيات و افكار الحضور للعمل على انجاح المشروع و وتوسعته على نطاق الاردن بأكمله في المستقبل.

ومن جانبه رحب عطوفة سليمان النجادات مفوض البيئة والموارد الطبيعية / سلطة منطقة العقبة الاقتصادية الخاصة بالحضور وعبر عن اهتمام محافظة العقبة بتبني المشاريع البيئية و ان مشروع دعم الاقتصاد الدائري للتوظيف والادماج الاجتماعي يعتبر خطوة مهمة للسير في هذا الطريق و ايضا عبر على امتنانه ان المشروع سيتم تنفيذه في العقبة تماشيا مع حاجة مكب النفايات للتطوير و الاصلاح.

شكر السيد محمد الحموري ممثل مكتب فرع شرق المتوسط ​​لبرنامج التعاون عبر الحدود ENI CBC MED جمعية ادامة للدعوة لحضور الاجتماع الافتتاحي لمشروع دعم الاقتصاد الدائري للتوظيف والادماج الاجتماعي واضاف انه المشروع مختار من بين 23 مشروع استراتيجي و انتهز الفرصة للتعريف بالبرنامج  وانه من اكبر 16 مشروع في العاالم من حيث الميزانية والدول المشاركة حيث انه يضم 13  دولة من شرق وغرب البحر الابيض المتوسط  بميزانية تبلغ 209 مليون يورو وان البرنامج يهدف الى تعزيز العلاقة و معالجة المشكلات بين الدول المشاركة. واخيرا اكد ان المكتب سيوفر الدعم الكامل لتحقيق اهداف المشروع وانجاحه.

انتهى الاجتماع الافتتاحي بجلسة نقاشية وعصف ذهني  بين جمعية ادامة  و سلطة مفوضية العقبة الاقتصادية وجميع المشاركين لمناقشة توصياتهم ودورهم في المشروع وللتعريف بالخطوات القادمة.
