EDAMA Association Holds National Workshop as Part of the “Women on the Green Path” Project


On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, EDAMA Association held the national workshop for the “Women on the Green Path” project, aimed at enhancing the role of women in the green and circular economy in Jordan.

Eng. Imad Zreikat, General Manager of EDAMA Association, opened the workshop with a speech emphasizing the importance of supporting and empowering Jordanian women in the transition toward a green economy. He highlighted the progress Jordan has made in this field in recent years.

In this context, Eng. Shatha Al-Sharif, founder and consultant at Sustain Mena, delivered a presentation addressing the key challenges and opportunities facing women in green entrepreneurship. Additionally, Eng. Bassam Darwish, Green Jobs Officer at the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), discussed the importance of integrating women into green labor markets and their role in achieving sustainable growth.

The workshop saw a diverse attendance from representatives of the public and private sectors as well as civil society. Inspiring success stories were shared by women who had benefited from the “Women on the Green Path” project. The session also featured the presentation of a research paper prepared within the framework of the project, along with related policy recommendations for economically empowering women in the green economy.

The workshop included interactive working sessions in which participants were divided into groups to discuss the main themes of the “Women on the Green Path” report in the Jordanian context. Each group focused on a specific topic, identifying existing gaps and challenges, and proposing actionable policy recommendations to be included in a comprehensive policy paper.

The “Women on the Green Path” project aims to promote the economic empowerment of women in the green and circular economy across the Mediterranean region. It does so through capacity building, support for business support organizations, and the empowerment of women entrepreneurs to achieve inclusive and sustainable growth.

The project is supported by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).
