Research Assistant
Project: MEDWISE – Mediterranean Waste Innovations for Sustainable Environments

Reporting to: Project Manager and Senior Researcher
Location: Amman, Jordan
Duration: full-time, subject to probation completion and/or availability of funding and extension of the project duration

- Role Overview
As a research assistant on the MEDWISE Project – Mediterranean Waste Innovations for Sustainable Environments (A_T_2.4_0393), you will support the implementation of research, communication, and dissemination activities. The role involves supporting project communication and outreach efforts and rendering project results into clear and accessible content for stakeholders and targeted audiences. Additionally, you will contribute to desk research and mapping of solutions, as well as to project deliverables and reporting in coordination with project partners.
The ideal candidate will have experience in, or a strong interest in, environmental sustainability, waste management, and EU-funded projects.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in EU-funded environmental projects and work closely with experts in waste management and sustainable development.
- Key Responsibilities
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:
- Support organization of workshops and meetings with public authorities, private companies, NGOs, academia, and project partners.
- Prepare content, dissemination materials, and updates for stakeholders in line with EU and EDAMA visibility and communication requirements.
- Support stakeholder and target-group mapping activities relevant to project dissemination
- Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders through clear, timely communication, regular follow-ups, and structured feedback collection.
Research & Technical Support:
- Conduct desk research and mapping focused on waste management, recycling systems, and circular economy practices.
- Support project deliverables, reporting, and outreach activities in coordination with project partners to collect input, updates, and supporting materials.
- Stay updated on regional and international waste management trends, policies, and EU regulations.
Project Coordination & Implementation:
- Support the monitoring of assigned project activities to ensure timely delivery within scope.
- Assist in the preparation of reports aligned with EDAMA and Programme requirements.
- Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Environmental Science/Management, Environmental Engineering, Waste Management, or a related field.
Experience:
- 0-1 Year of professional experience
- Essential: Up to 1 year of experience in communication, research support, or dissemination activities within environmental, sustainability, or circular economy projects.
- Demonstrated ability to use Canva, Adobe Design Tools, or relevant platforms.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, organizing workshops, or presenting research findings is highly valued.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to follow up effectively with members, manage multiple communication channels, maintain accurate records, and ensure timely, clear, and professional engagement.
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic.
- Strong presentation, public speaking, and facilitation skills.
- Highly organized with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and presentations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong follow-up and coordination abilities
- Knowledge of waste management, circular economy, and environmental policies in Jordan and the Mediterranean region is an advantage.
