  1. Role Overview

As a Junior Researcher on the MEDWISE Project – Mediterranean Waste Innovations for Sustainable Environments (A_T_2.4_0393), you will contribute to advancing sustainable waste management practices and promoting circular economy initiatives . In this role, you will conduct research, perform stakeholder mapping, carry out field studies, and analyze data, while supporting project coordination and dissemination activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in, or a strong interest in, environmental management, waste management, and EU-funded projects.

 This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in EU-funded environmental projects and work closely with experts in waste management and sustainable development.

  1. Key Responsibilities

Research & Technical Support:

  • Conduct desk research, field surveys, and stakeholder mapping focused on waste management, recycling systems, and circular economy practices.
  • Support the implementation, and monitoring of project actions and innovative solutions in waste management.
  • Analyze data and contribute to preparing research reports, policy briefs, technical notes, and publications.
  • Stay updated on regional and international waste management trends, policies, and EU regulations.

Project Coordination & Implementation:

  • Assist in monitoring assigned project activities to ensure timely delivery within scope.
  • Contribute in  progress tracking for assigned research and technical work packages.
  • Prepare reports aligned with EDAMA and Programme requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:

  • Support organization of workshops, consultations, and meetings with public authorities, private companies, NGOs, academia, and project partners.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to prepare content, dissemination materials, and updates for stakeholders.
  • Mapping the project’s stakeholders and target groups.
  1. Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science/Management, Environmental Engineering, Waste Management, or a related field. Master’s degree is an advantage.

Experience:

  •  2-3 years of professional experience.
  • Essential: At least 1 year of experience in waste management, environmental sustainability, or circular economy projects. Experience with EU-funded programmes (Interreg, ENI/CBC, Erasmus+, Horizon Europe) is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research, analyze data, and develop reports or policy recommendations.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, organizing workshops, or presenting research findings is highly valued.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic.
  • Strong presentation, public speaking, and facilitation skills.
  • Highly organized with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and presentations.
  • Knowledge of waste management, circular economy, and environmental policies in Jordan and the Mediterranean region is an advantage.
