EDAMA and the National Water and Energy Sector Skills Council (WE Skill) Capacity-Building Efforts Through Hosting Project Management Professional (PMP) Training Program

EDAMA Association for Energy, Water and Environment, in collaboration with the National Water and Energy Sector Skills Council (WE Skill), is hosting the third week of the Project Management Professional (PMP) training program. This activity is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the professional competencies of WE Skill members in the water and energy sectors and enhance their readiness to meet evolving project management requirements.

The specialized training falls under the “Capacity Building and Institutionalization of the National Water and Energy Sector Skills Council (WE Skill)” project, implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and supervised by the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission (AQAC). The project aims to reinforce the council’s institutional framework and establish a sustainable operational model to support skills development across both sectors.

The PMP training program is designed to upgrade participants’ competencies in project management based on global best practices, enhancing their abilities in planning, execution, monitoring, and control. This contributes to improving sector performance and strengthening the implementation of key infrastructure projects.

Representatives from member institutions of the Water and Energy Sector Skills Council are participating in this week’s sessions, including:

  • Irbid District Electricity Company (IDECO)
  • Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA)
  • Ezzat Marji Group
  • Miyahuna – Jordan Water Company
  • MAG Engineering & Contracting
  • Aqaba Water Company
  • Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ)
  • Philadelphia Solar
  • Arab Technical Group (ATG)
  • Kawar Energy
  • EDAMA Association for Energy, Water and Environment

The Sector Skills Council serves as a strategic partnership between the public and private sectors, as well as key stakeholders in the water and energy fields. Its core responsibilities include reviewing and endorsing vocational and technical education and training policies, developing new professional pathways, and evaluating training programs to ensure alignment with labor market needs.

Upon completing the training requirements, participants will receive an accredited certificate of attendance that counts toward the required training hours needed to qualify for the PMP certification exam, supporting their professional advancement and strengthening their prospects for achieving this internationally recognized credential.

Through this initiative, EDAMA reaffirms its commitment to supporting national skills development and advancing its role as the executive arm of the WE Skill Council working to create a lasting impact on workforce capabilities within the water and energy sectors.
