EDAMA and National Sector Skills Council for Water & Energy (WE SKILL) Host Workshop to Discuss the New Electricity Law No. (10) of 2025


On Thursday, November 20, 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of the energy and water sectors, the National Sector Skills Council for Water & Energy (WE SKILL), under the umbrella of EDAMA Association for Energy, Water, and Environment, organized an analytical workshop to discuss the General Electricity Law No. (10) of 2025. EDAMA serves as the executive arm and secretariat of the council, playing a pivotal role in coordinating and implementing its various activities.

This workshop is part of the activities of the project “Capacity Building and Institutionalization of the National Sector Skills Council for Water & Energy (WE SKILL)”.implemented with the support of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ),  and under the supervision of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission. It aims to strengthen the institutional framework of the council by developing a sustainable operational model that meets the needs of both sectors. The workshop seeks to present a comprehensive analytical paper on the aspirations of the new law and identify the future needs of the sector in terms of human resources, training, and professional development.

The workshop was attended by members of the Skills Council, representatives from electricity distribution companies, the National Electric Power Company, and power generation companies. Key highlights of the new law were reviewed, along with its expected impact on the national economy, attracting investments, and enhancing governance and regulatory capacity within the sector.

The analytical presentation also included a comprehensive evaluation of the law through SWOT analysis, shedding light on strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges. Additionally, it discussed the pivotal role the Skills Council can play in developing professional standards, identifying jobs that will see increased demand in the future, and the specialized skills required to keep pace with transformations in the electricity sector.

This initiative reflects the council’s commitment, supported by EDAMA, to fostering dialogue among stakeholders and providing scientifically grounded recommendations to support the development of national policies and strategies in the energy sector.
