Jordanian–Yemeni Meeting at EDAMA Association Outlines New Energy Cooperation Prospects

The Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Dr. Jalal Ibrahim Faqira, praised the efforts and achievements of EDAMA Association for Energy, Water, and Environment, noting that they reflect Jordan’s remarkable experience in turning challenges into opportunities and overcoming obstacles through knowledge and determination.

This came during the Yemeni ambassador’s visit to EDAMA’s headquarters in Amman, initiated by the Yemeni Embassy, where he met with members of the association’s Board of Directors.

During the meeting, His Excellency the Ambassador commended Jordan’s pioneering role in developing the renewable energy, water, and environment sectors, emphasizing that the Jordanian experience represents a successful model from which Yemen can greatly benefit — especially given the exceptional circumstances the country is facing as a result of the war and its significant impact on energy infrastructure.

For his part, Dr. Dureid Mahasneh, Chairman of EDAMA, along with members of the Board of Directors, welcomed the Ambassador and his accompanying delegation, reaffirming the association’s commitment to fostering opportunities for joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries. He stressed the importance of transferring Jordanian expertise and knowledge through memoranda of understanding and joint development projects that would contribute to building the capacities of Yemeni institutions in the field of sustainable energy.

During the discussion, Ambassador Faqira highlighted EDAMA’s important role in supporting innovation and knowledge exchange in the energy sector, expressing the Yemeni Embassy’s aspiration to establish a sustainable institutional partnership with the association aimed at capacity building and advancing development initiatives in the coming phase.

Both sides agreed to build on the outcomes of this meeting by exploring potential co-financing opportunities for renewable energy projects and working toward an enabling legislative and regulatory environment to facilitate cooperation between the relevant Jordanian and Yemeni entities. They also emphasized the importance of developing practical bilateral cooperation plans and forming joint working teams to follow up on implementation.
