EDAMA, BDC and CAN Lead Site Visit to Green Innovation Projects in Azraq Under EU’s “Green Innovation Links” Initiative

Azraq, Jordan – August 2025 As part of its ongoing commitment to fostering sustainable practices in rural Jordan, EDAMA Association for Energy, Water, and Environment in collaboration with the Business Development Center-BDC and Climate Action Network – Jordan (CAN), and with funding from the European Union, organized a field visit to showcase the tangible outcomes of the “Green Innovation Links” project in Azraq, and to announce the official lunching of the site.

This event marked the successful conclusion of the Green Innovation Links project, following months of intensive theoretical and technical training.

The visit brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the European Union Delegation to Jordan, local authorities, and development partners, to witness firsthand the innovative green infrastructure implemented across the region. The event aimed to showcase successful models of eco-friendly agricultural practices, organic composting, and water recycling systems that support both environmental sustainability and local livelihoods.

The event began with opening speeches from project partners and dignitaries, including Hanina Ben Bernou, Attaché – Green Business, Innovation and Connectivity at the EU Delegation to Jordan, and Wisam Asaed, Deputy Mayor of Azraq Municipality.

The project team also presented an overview of the Green Innovation Links project, outlining its achievements and long-term impact on local communities.

Following the opening session, participants embarked on a site visit to several farms and green installations developed through the project. These sites serve as live demonstrations of the project’s innovative approaches to sustainable farming, including organic crop cultivation, compost production, and water reuse systems. They also double as training hubs for local beneficiaries, equipping both Jordanians and Syrian refugees with practical skills to apply in their own agricultural activities.

The EU-funded Green Innovation Links initiative emphasizes environmental innovation, job creation, and climate resilience in rural Jordan, particularly in water-scarce regions like Azraq. Through such community-driven projects, EDAMA, BDCand CAN aim to promote green entrepreneurship, support sustainable food systems, and advance the country’s environmental goals.
