EDAMA Hosts an Event Focused on Sustainability and Water-Energy-Food- Environment Nexus in Jordan


On Tuesday, February 25th, 2025, EDAMA Association for Energy, Water, and Environment, in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan and the Embassy of the United States in Amman, successfully hosted the hybrid event “Advancing Sustainability in Jordan: Water-Energy-Food-Environment Nexus”

The event brought together experts, industry leaders, and stakeholders to explore the critical intersections of water, energy, food, and the environment in Jordan. Participants engaged in thought-provoking discussions on how to build a more sustainable future by leveraging Jordan’s unique resources and addressing its pressing challenges in water scarcity, energy production, and food security.

Dr. Mark Holtzapple, Professor of Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University, served as the distinguished speaker for the session. Dr. Holtzapple presented innovative solutions to the challenges faced by Jordan, including the role of solar energy and agrivoltaics in addressing water and energy issues, as well as the potential of advanced desalination technologies and mineral recovery from seawater.

The session was expertly moderated by Dr. Nizar Haddad, an esteemed leader with over 25 years of experience in agricultural research, management, and innovation. Dr. Haddad guided the conversation, bringing valuable insights to the discussion on how various sectors can collaborate to foster sustainability in Jordan.
