Jordan Bromine Company

Jordan Bromine Company (JBC) is the first and sole producer and manufacturer of bromine and bromine derivatives in Jordan.  Established in January 1999 as a joint venture between the Arab Potash Company and Albemarle Holdings LTD (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Albemarle Corporation), JBC was registered as a private free-zone establishment in Ghor-Al-Safi in the south-eastern area of the Dead Sea in June 2000.  JBC currently employs more than 280 Jordanian employees and is the first Jordanian company to receive IMDG, ADR, and IATA certifications.

Since its inception, JBC has successfully sought to build its international sales portfolio, selling its products in more than 35 countries around the world and becoming the first Jordanian company of its kind recognized as an authorized exporter to Europe.  JBC strives to ensure that its products and manufacturing processes are safer, more environmentally friendly, cleaner, and more efficient than those of its competitors by focusing on increasing efficiencies in its usage of resources such as water, energy, and raw materials, while adopting and adhering to the highest industry standards for safety and environmental compliance.

JBC joined EDAMA because of the nature of its work and their shared goal of preserving the environment, energy, and water resources through applying world-class best practices. JBC views EDAMA and its members as an important resource for developing and promoting renewable energy and the efficient management of resources.  More importantly, EDAMA is a great platform for effecting social and economic change, promoting JBC’s mission of supporting local communities in the Ghod-Al-Safi area, which includes, among others, JBC’s funding of a school for 900 young girls and JBC’s establishment of a fully-equipped training centre where EDAMA can provide training workshops on efficient energy and resource management.
